Grace Xie, MA, RP

I’m a Registered Psychotherapist based in Ottawa. I work online with clients across Ontario and, depending on jurisdiction, other Canadian provinces, in English and Mandarin.

About me

I work with clinicians, first responders, creative professionals, people recovering from traumatic injury, and more generally children (10+), adolescents, and adults. Among those are individuals struggling with life transitions, difficulties in relationships, experiences that don't fit in the DSM, or issues that have remained present despite previous attempts at treatment. There is no required type of suffering that must precede therapy.

Many who find their way here have already been given explanations for what the issue is and how to fix it. Here, you'll be given a space for what you say, in your own way, without it being converted into something that makes sense for the therapist.

Where I’m coming from clinically

My primary orientation is psychoanalytic and influenced by Lacan and Freud. I’m a member of Lacan Toronto and a Friend of the Ottawa Psychoanalytic Society, and I regularly attend events and seminars offered by Lacanian schools and organizations internationally.

I also have formal clinical training in EMDR, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and have been practicing for five years. Before psychotherapy, I worked for eight years in neuropsychological and psychological assessment.
